After I finished setting up all my social media posts for the night, I stepped out to my balcony with my half cup of coffee to have a cigarette. Leaving the sliding door slightly open to be able to hear the Maceo Plex b2b Richie Hawtin set from ENTER.Week11. I pulled out my phone and started browsing Reddit when I came across this interesting article about clubbing alone, which is an all too familiar subject for me.
Being the person that I am, I find myself going Han Solo to most club events and immediately clicked with this article. I've always been a fan with going to events by myself because I have the freedom to do whatever I want. I'm not obligated to stay in a specific area or hang around a certain group. I like to float around the club, grooving as I walk, and mingle will all types of people. Over the past years, I've met a lot of interesting people when I was alone, but I was never really alone. The minute you spark a conversation or share a "yaaaa" moment when a favorite tune comes on, you start a connection with the other person. Though you may be in your own world dancing, their energy is felt around you.
If you've never gone clubbing on your own, I highly recommend it. You will learn something new from that experience which will have an effect on your life. Granted there is a chance you won't have the best time but you can still learn a lot about yourself.
Want to go to a show that none of your friends are down for? Just go. Dance. And if you're ever lost, look for your resident Waldo.
